The T'ai-Shang Kan-Ying P'ien is a classic work of Taoist ethics and morality. It is perhaps most famous for its expression of the Taoist version of the Golden Rule: "Regard your neighbor's gain as your own gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss."The text of this edition was translated and published in 1906 by Paul Carus (1852-1919), a German-American philosopher and student of comparative religion, and Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki (1870-1966), a Japanese translator and author of books about Buddhism. It was the first translation of the T'ai-Shang Kan-Ying P'ien into English directly from the Chinese.
